A New Orleans native, Benné holds a dual Master's degree in Fine Art and Art Therapy. This layered foundation has led to a love of storytelling through various materials. Her most recent body of work merges the applied arts of Mexico with the native materials of the Yucatan.  Early exposure to Mayan art and culture,  chance meetings with Yucatecos attending Tulane University, and advanced studies in the applied arts of Mexico have become integral to the narrative of place/person in this new series.
